Abbey's Student Account, Support while you study

The Abbey Student Account offers an interest-free overdraft of up to £2,000 (£1,000 in first year). It's a great account with no gimmicks, and includes a £50 cash gift, and a great 2% AER/ 1.98% gross (variable) in-credit rate (5% AER (variable) for Santander University Student Account) (see note 1).

You can only apply for a Student Bank Account in one of our branches. Please find your most convenient branch using our branch finder.  Customers wanting to open a Student Bank Account must switch their existing bank account using the Account Transfer Process

Are you a postgraduate student?

You can take advantage of the Abbey Postgraduate Account with an interest free overdraft of up to £1,800 (in year 4) and an in-credit interest rate of 0.10% AER/ gross (variable) on your whole balance.

Note 1 AER stands for Annual Equivalent Rate and shows what the interest would be if we paid interest and added it each year. The gross rate is the rate payable before income tax deduction. Rates may change and we pay interest each month.
