Switch your Bank Account to Abbey in three simple steps

Our dedicated Account Transfer team will make sure you enjoy a simple and straightforward move from your existing banking provider to Abbey

All you need to do is select the option to switch within the on-line application. The switch will start on the day the account is opened unless you select an alternative date. We will:

  • Ask for your direct debit and standing order details from your old bank. The interbank agreement says that your old bank should send us all the information we need within three working days;
  • Transfer all your direct debits and standing orders from your old bank account to your new Abbey account unless you inform us otherwise;
  • Set up any standing orders on your new Abbey account;
  • Contact any company that takes direct debits from your old account and inform them of your new account details;
  • and provide you with a form to give to your employer to ensure that your salary is switched over to your new account.

It can take up to 28 days to complete the switch but we will do our best to complete it sooner than this and make your move as quick and easy as possible
