Direct ISA - Apply

Before you begin

What you'll need to apply:

Your personal and address details
Your National Insurance number
Details of any Abbey bank or savings account cards you might own cards you might own
A valid email address (we will contact you via email about your application)

You can apply if you:

You are at least 16 years of age and a UK resident for tax purposes
Your opening balance is at least £1
Haven't already paid into a cash ISA in the current tax year or you want to transfer these funds to Abbey

What you need to do.

You should read Abbey's Terms of Business, current savings rates, savings accounts terms and conditions and our savings range summary information. We also recommend that you save and/or print these documents for your records. They are all in PDF format, so you will need Adobe Acrobat to view them.
You need to complete the online application form from the 'apply now' link. This should take about 10 minutes.
We recommend that you add ‘customerservices@abbey.com’ to your email contacts. This should help prevent our emails to you being filtered out by your internet service provider.
Please note that if you are transferring an existing Abbey Cash ISA this can be done simply by completing the transfer form and returning to us at the address stated on the form. You will not need to complete a new online application form.

What we do:

We aim to process your application and send you an email, within five working days (please remember to allow for weekends and Bank Holidays).
This email will either be a welcome e mail to confirm that your account is opened, or to ask you to provide some proof of ID before we can open your account. Click here to find out why we need to see this information.
Once your account is open we will link your new account to your existing card / eBanking so that you can transact straight away. If you are new to Abbey eBanking, or simply requested a new card for your savings account, we will post your eBanking credentials and new card to the address you provided within 7 – 10 working days of your welcome email.

Alternatively, you can apply by calling 0800 587 2764 or drop into any Abbey branch. You can find your nearest branch using our branch finder. Remember, you'll need to bring some proof of your name and address. See a list of acceptable ID.
